October is Teen Read Month! Laugh Out Loud!

Posted by Laura on October 9, 2007

Stop in to the Duluth Public library during October and sign up for Teen Read Month!

This year’s theme is LOL@ your library. We are making it really easy this year to have some fun at the library!

Get some swag when you pick up a teen read packet. Did you read the Teens’ Top Ten nominees over the summer? Get some more swag if you vote for Duluth’s Teens’ Top Ten and be entered into the drawing for a $25.00 gift card for Barnes & Noble. Click here to vote for the national winner on-line between October 14th and 20th.

You’ll have a drawing slip in your packet to win a poster, a CD, an owl, or a book. Enter only once – we’ll know if you enter more often…

If you don’t want to pick up a packet (I can’t imagine why not, it won’t cost you anything!!) you can still enter the drawing for the poster, etc. listed above. You can also sign up for the book discussion.

Have you read Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, do you like pizza and are you a teen in grades 7-12? Yes to all three??? Call 730-4218 and say you want to come to the Harry Potter and Hot Pizza book discussion on October 20, 2007 at 1:00 in the Green Room at the Main Library. Old Chicago is donating the pizza, but you need to call us by the 18th to reserve a spot!

The Nature of Jade – Deb Caletti

Posted by Laura on October 9, 2007

Read The Nature of Jade and you will learn a lot about elephants, although some of it is quite sad.  You will also read a good story about a smart eighteen-year-old girl who has some decisions to make.

“Seattle high school senior Jade’s life is defined by her anxiety disorder and dysfunctional family, until she spies a mysterious boy with a baby who seems to share her fascination with the elephants at a nearby zoo.”
